ALHAMBRA, Calif. (AP) - An employee of a Chinese-language newspaper in Southern California has pleaded not guilty in the fatal shooting of his boss.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office says Zhong Qi Chen entered the plea Monday to one count of murder and allegations that he personally used a handgun and caused great bodily injury and death.

The 59-year-old El Monte resident allegedly entered the Alhambra offices of China Press on Nov. 16 and shot 58-year-old Yining Xie because of a dispute. The victim died at the scene.

Chen faces a sentence of 50 years to life in state prison if convicted as charged. Bail was set at $6 million.
